On Thursday, 23 March, following months of exchanging letters, 44 Year 9 Alleyn’s pupils met their French penpals in person for a picnic in Dulwich Park.

The Alleyn’s pupils and their French counterparts, from Collège Joseph Kerbellec in Quéven, have been exchanging letters in their French lessons since November which has been an enriching experience and has brought the language to life.

To be able come together in person was a fantastic opportunity to apply their learning authentically, experiencing the language as it was intended – for conversation!

All of the pupils thoroughly enjoyed taking their French learning outside of the classroom, playing get to know you games, football and enjoying a picnic and conversation with their French friends.
