Yesomi, who is Director of Curatorial Affairs and Public Programmes at Serpentine, will front the tour on Saturday 1 April, 2023 as part of the gallery's live Saturday Talks series.
The exhibition charts over seven decades of innovation by the artist, novelist and poet Barbara Chase-Riboud. It features a selection of large-scale sculptures and other works, and marks the UK debut presentation of some of her pieces. Chase-Ribould was born in Philadelphia, USA and now lives and works in Paris, France. Her book I Always Knew: A Memoir was published by Princeton University Press in late 2022.
Yesomi has been in her current post at Serpentine Galleries since 2020, and previously held curatorial positions at the Walker Art Center, the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum at Michigan State University, and the Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago. She also served as artistic director of the Chicago Architecture Biennial 2019. Her writing has appeared in a number of journals and she has written spoken out on diversity and structural racism in museums.
