This year’s World Book Day festivities kicked off first thing on Monday morning, with author Tọlá Okogwu speaking to Year 8 along with our Year 7 and 8 guests from Trinity Academy Brixton.  Tọlá  spoke about Nigerian culture, her writing inspiration and transforming your weaknesses into your superpower. Pupils were excited to hear about her action packed Onyeka and the Academy of the Sun series (perfect for fans of the X-Men) which has been optioned for film by Netflix. Exciting stuff!

Thursday was World Book Day proper, with lots of quizzing going on in Tutor Time to test out our pupil’s bookish knowledge. Year 6 and 8 pupils were also treated to an excellent talk from author Jennifer Bell, who told them all about her Wonderscape novels, set in a hi-tech future where you can walk around inside your favourite video games. Jennifer also had great fun chatting to Year 5 about her Agents of the Wild series, before whizzing over to Lower School to run a workshop with our keen creative writers. We’re sure they were left feeling inspired to put pen to paper! We can’t wait to read all of their novels someday.
