Congratulations to Micah in Year 8 who won the Junior Section of the Cranmer Awards National Finals on Saturday 25 February.

The awards, run by the Prayer Book Society, are now in their 34th year and this year's final took place at Liverpool Hope University. For the final round of the competition, Micah had to learn an extract from the 1662 Book of Common Prayer and recite it for 3-5 minutes, making sure he both projected his voice to the back of the large church as well as convey the meaning of the passage.

The judges were looking for, amongst other things; clarity and projection; fluency and rhythm; natural, intelligent communication of meaning and secure, accurate, memorisation and timing.

Micah was praised for his tone of voice and for the way he articulated the message to the audience.

In a very strong field of candidates from all over the country Micah did brilliantly to be placed first.

He won £250 and was presented with his own copy of the Book of Common Prayer.

Very well done to Micah!
