On Tuesday, Year 13 Psychology students headed to the Friend's Meeting House in Euston to attend the annual Science & Psychology Hypnosis Conference.

Throughout the day students heard talks on a variety of topics within Psychology. For example, they listened to talks on the psychology of dance and the psychology of magic as well as a talk that looked at crimes and how psychology is used in police interviews.

The last session of the day was the most entertaining. Hypnotist Andrew Newton, who is widely recognised as one of the world’s leading experts on hypnosis, explained the theory behind hypnosis and proceeded to hypnotise members of the audience. His session started by audience members being asked to imagine they were on a plane and suddenly the oxygen masks fell, but instead of masks he had them believe their shoes were their oxygen masks which resulted in them having to breath into them for a couple of minutes!
