On Monday, teams of 4 pupils from each house took part in an inter-house masterchef competition whicih involved cooking a 3-course dinner to the theme of 1980s dinner party.
Judged by our School Librarian, Mrs O'Donnell who said, "The quality of the pupils' cooking was outstanding."
Presented menus includes, several prawn cocktails, two beef stroganoffs and a couple of trifles, in additional to many other 80s classics, such as Shepherd's Pie, upsidedown pineapple cake, chicken Kiev, strawberry cupcake and apple tart.
The first place dishes for each course were:
Starter: Cribb's for their handmade blinis with salmon, cream cheese and finely diced beetroot.
Main: 1st place went to Tyson's with a very sophisticated Duck a l'orange with chargrilled asparagus and Hasselback potatoes.
Pudding: 1st place went to Tulley's for a showstopping baked Alaska with homemade sponge cake and ice cream.
Overall, the winning house was Tyson's. They made:
Starter: Mushroom and parmesan vol-au-vents
Main: Duck a l'orange served with Hasselback potatoes and chargrilled asparagus.
Pudding: Black Forest Gateaux Trifle with homemade brownies and chocolate custard.
Junior School Open Day
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
