Year 7 pupils stepped through the wardrobe into the magical world of Narnia with a trip to The Gillian Lynne Theatre to see The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe on Tuesday and Thursday evenings this week.
Year 7 pupils are currently studying story writing in their English lessons and examining stories where a ‘transformation’ takes place. Exploring how a theatre can demonstrate the transformation from the wardrobe to Narnia was a great opportunity. As well as complementing their English lessons, this year in Drama the pupils are exploring puppetry, and it was wonderful to see the incredible puppet of Aslan in this fantastic and imaginative production.
English teacher, Hannah Durno, said:
“Most of the students are familiar with the CS Lewis books already, so it was good chance for them to see a page to stage adaptation. The production was incredibly imaginative and our Year 7s thoroughly enjoyed it.”

"Amazing! I loved how the lighting worked and how they teleported to Narnia."
"I liked when Aslan disappeared from the table – the special effects were amazing."
Junior School Open Day
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
