We were delighted to welcome Chloë back to Alleyn’s to give a brilliantly useful Careers Talk to budding musicians. Chloë was a music scholar at Alleyn’s from 2007-14 and was full of praise for the high standard of music at the School.

Chloë completed her Master’s in Violin performance the Royal Academy of Music in July having also completed her undergraduate studies there.  She is now a fully-fledged freelancing musician.

Chloë ran through the differences in studying Music at University and at a Conservatoire before giving a more detailed breakdown of the four years of study at a Conservatoire discussing performance exams, orchestral projects, chamber music and solo performance. Chloë then spoke about what comes next after completing your undergraduate studies – a Master’s? PGCE? Work? - and the importance of networking in your life as a freelance musician.  She shared really useful tips on the kind of work available including orchestras, chamber music, recording sessions, musical theatre and teaching.

Our thanks to Chloë for such a helpful talk. Once Alleyn's, Always Alleyn's
