The Sports Awards Evening is an additional opportunity to recognise some pupils, who have won awards that have been donated to the school over the years. The awards are individual, sport specific trophies and a few overall sporting awards. This runs alongside our prestige’s Colours Award where we look to recognise pupils for outstanding achievements throughout the year. Due to capacity, the Awards Evening is limited to award winners only however the long list of celebrated Colour Awards is presented in assembly on our final day of term.

The guests to the evening were all treated to a glorious Sports Awards evening and were honoured to have the presence of Great Britain International hockey player – Sarah Robertson. Sarah is a Tokyo Olympic, Bronze medallist and all the award winners had the opportunity to meet Sarah, see her medal and have a photograph with the Olympian. We were all inspired with a wonderful speech where Sarah spoke about her journey, the balance in her life where she achieved a law degree, alongside training for the Olympics and how important a variety of sports and support system were key to her success. She certainly left the stage having inspired the next generation.

This was followed up by an impressive fencing demonstration by Charlotte and Lauren who provided great insight into the skill, agility and subtleties around a fencing epee event. This was finished off with a 5 point match which left the audience in awe of their ability.

Our Y13 pupils highlighted some ‘Magic Moments’ in their sporting journeys through Alleyns’ and left the award winners with some wonderful advice.

All of the award winners were presented with silver slavers by Sarah Roberston and the PE department, and a wonderful evening was had by all.
