A major consideration for Alleyn's in the coming years will be what we plan to make our buildings sustainable, and we are consulting with environmental design consultants Atelier Ten to help us make the best informed decisions we can.

The committee all learned so much from the talk, which covered the sort of decisions that can be made about the very old, the relatively old and also the newer buildings on site in terms of insulation and power use; and also how decisions are best made on whether to replace of renovate.

Pupils asked plenty of insightful questions, demonstrating the thought they have already put into a number of issues and all agreed that the talk was fascinating, insightful, and essential education.

Much work will be taking place over the summer to complete the School's Master Plan and also to fix a date for Alleyn's to achieve Net Zero, i.e. achieving a balance between the carbon we emit into the atmosphere, and the carbon we remove from it.
