Thirty-five DofE Silver participants, organised into six groups, enjoyed the full experience of camping and walking on the South Downs around Alfreston at the weekend.
From cooking on the tranchia, setting up the tents and eating from tins or making sure they read those maps correctly, the students, whose only previous experience of Dof E had been hampered somewhat by Covid-19 regulations, made the most out of their time out in the real countryside.
They were also lucky enough to have sunshine by day, and hear the rain outside from the relative comfort of their tents at night.
