Hillsboro’ Road began its trial today as a designated "School Street" with a temporary restriction for motor vehicles and through traffic during peak school times (8.00-8.45am and 3.00-3.45pm weekdays, term-time only).
The first day of the trial was deemed a success, with large numbers of bicycles and scooters in use by children and adults alike.
Local commentators quickly welcomed the scheme, which aims to reduce the amount of traffic passing through, with benefits to road safety and air quality.
It is hoped that the scheme will help bring about a safer, healthier and more pleasant environment, which will encourage more families to consider active travel to school where it is possible for them to do so.
The scheme is one of a number of traffic and parking control measures recently introduced in the local area, with further initiatives likely to follow.
Alleyn's continues to work with stakeholders including councillors, residents and interest groups to help protect and improve the local environment.

Junior School Open Day
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
