Paul Cochrane, Housemaster of Roper’s, has put forward Mr Roper’s book. He explains: ‘It contains pages written by Mr Roper on boys in the House at the start of the history of Roper’s [1907]. I use the book along with the photos provided from the archives to talk about a boy in the week leading up to Remembrance Day. There are many different characters – some sporty, some academic, some who were lovable rouges. I talk about them from their page, one per year, and then read the extracts from letters Mr Roper received from their commanding officers relaying the news of their death in the First World War. As we sit in the House room we are connected with these fellow House members who sat where we sat and who gave their lives for us.’
Junior School Open Day
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
