Year 5 took part in a full day of Bushcraft activities in glorious autumn sunshine. The programme of activities was designed to allow the children to find out about some key survival skills as well as allowing the children to develop their collaborative working skills. There were also plenty of nods to our 7 school learning dispositions as the children tested themselves in a range of problem-solving scenarios.

Through the morning, each group was presented with orienteering, shelter-building and raft-building challenges. Later in the day, the children were involved in fire lighting and water filtration activities. The message from the instructors was that they were very unlikely to ever need to use these skills but Year 5 had a lot of fun finding out about them.
