Despite the rain, we had a wonderful time at our first 11+ Open Event of the year. It was a wonderful occasion, providing prospective students and families a great insight into what makes this school so special and unique.
Mrs Lunnon (Head) opened the afternoon, encouraging all students to "find their superpower" at Alleyn's, a school where children are "grounded, unpretentious and comfortable to be themselves".
Following this, we had an amazing performance by Jahnel (Year 8) of Sia's unstoppable.
Dr Durno, (Deputy Head Academic) told us about the richness of the curriculum and discussed the scholarly depth of education at Alleyn's. In particular, he referenced the 'Governor's Research Prize': a piece of academic research students undertake at Alleyn's and are judged on.
Mrs Lawrence (Head of Lower School) spoke about the calm and supportive atmosphere of the lower school, located in its own separate building.
Finally, Mr English (Deputy Head Pastoral) gave us a particularly memorable demonstration of the ROCCK values in action.
A big thank you to our pupil panel for answering the audience's questions, and to our Year 9s for providing tours around the school.
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
