On the evening of Thursday, 2 March, our Year 12 Astronomy Society invited pupils and staff to the Alleyn’s Observatory to view Venus and Jupiter and take some stunning photos of the moon!

With beautiful clear skies, pupils and staff were able to witness the celestial spectacle of the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter - when two astronomical objects appear close to each other in the sky, as seen from our view on Earth.

We are incredibly fortunate to be able to use our own state of the art telescope housed in an observatory on top of the Science building, which opened in 2016.

Jupiter and Venus have been occupying the same part of the sky since February 20 and will continue to do so until March 10.
