The Alleyn's Singing Prize 2023 preliminary round took place on Thursday 9 February with close to 40 participants performing a beautiful and wide range of repertoire.

We were delighted to have alumna Elizabeth Vineall (Brown's, 2018) join us for the day as the competition adjudicator. Elizabeth is currently a final year choral scholar at Queen's College, Oxford and a former Alleyn's music award holder.

While at Alleyn’s, Lizi wowed audiences when she played a solo for the annual music calendar highlight St John's Smith Square Concert in 2018.

Mr Beatty (Assistant Director of Music, Performance) commented:

"It was wonderful to welcome back Lizi Vineall to adjudicate our Singing Prize preliminary rounds. All of our young singers presented their songs from memory, singing with real conviction and character, and I was particularly proud of those for whom this was their first ever solo performance.”

There is a great sense of anticipation as we approach the Singing Prize 2023 finals on Tuesday 7 March, where the adjudicator will be Edward Price (BBC Singers).
