Following the Covid-19 lockdowns, the School identified the need for a space which centralises mental health and wellbeing for pupils and adults and the idea of The Well was conceived.
Work began on the building in mid-September and there has been huge progress despite the wind, snow and rain throughout the autumn. Groundworks, foundations, floors and block and brickwork are all now in and with the outside walls due to be finished this week, the building is taking shape.
Much of the fabric of the building is constructed off-site in panels, which are then delivered onsite and slotted together. This type of build is more sustainable than other types of construction and minimise noise and disruption during the build. Site Manager, Greg, from the construction company, P.J. Harte is rightfully pleased with his work:
“I am very proud to be involved in the construction of a sustainable facility that will provide the support required for the Alleyns community”.
On-site this morning, Mrs Lunnon expressed her pleasure in their progress:
“It is so exciting to finally see this long-awaited and much-needed building! I am so pleased to be still on track - thanks so much to Greg and the team!”
