Our Year 12 Design Technology students enjoyed an extraordinary and unique trip to Morden Wolf VR Production studios in Greenwich to explore the actual realities of Virtual Reality production.

They were taken on a journey from a brief history of VR to the current stages of the creative process and where VR contributes.

The studios are using some of the world’s most powerful and cutting-edge systems to allow synchronous panning in a VR environment, and to carry out the highest quality post-production work in a fraction of the time normally required.

Our students were taken through each stage of the process by the studio experts, in what at times was an immersive experience.

We also grabbed the off-the-cuff offer to visit a company called MOS-SYS on the floor below. These are the people who designed and constructed the systems being used by Morden Wolf, and in the process of designing and constructing VR systems which are already changing the global film and television industries. This took the trip to literally another level.

Year 12 Nana-Yaw was enthralled by the visit. "It was an engaging and hands-on experience about real-world engineering applications. I enjoyed following and relating to the industry professionals about their meshing of filming and new technologies", she said.
