This week, Year 7 participated in the much anticipated Masterchef competition, on the theme of 'French Cuisine'.  The work they produced was outstanding with groups making dishes with complex pastries, emulsion sauces, cooking of fish and vegetables and finished off with excellent presentation. Of course, Masterchef is not just about cooking; pupils were required to demonstrate team work, research themes, test recipes, plan a menu within a set budget and cook dishes within a limited time frame.

The winning team

It was a very tough decision for first-time judge and self-confessed francophile Assistant Head Mr Sproat-Clements but congratulations go to winners Billy, Eva, Rumi and Xavier from 7JS who produced an impressive menu of pan-fried seabass, roasted broccoli and hassleback potatoes and a voluté sauce. The winning dessert was a mouthwatering combination of profiteroles with meringues and chocolates coated strawberries.

Year 8 take their turn on Wednesday 17 November.
