Alleyn’s welcomed Richard Balfe from local East Dulwich Road bike shop, Balfe’s Bikes, on Friday 28 May to help get pupil and staff bikes in tip-tip condition and encourage safe and sustainable travel to School.

Richard checked tyres, brakes and gears on well over 50 pupil and staff bikes and made on-the-spot repairs. Some cyclists visited Richard’s mobile repair stand on arriving at School this morning, chatting through specific problems (or chatting about cycling in general), while others left notes on their bikes to flag any concerns they wanted checked out.

Assistant Bursar, Christopher Christoforou, said: “It’s great to have Richard and the team at Alleyn’s once again. We’re always very grateful for their expert help, especially since more of our pupils and staff are thinking about the environment and opting for active travel to and from school.”

Richard said: “Balfe's Bikes are very happy to come along and fix pupils' bikes to encourage healthy means of travelling to school."
