The Advent term begins with much anticipation as the Year 5 children embark on a visit to the Hertfordshire countryside to a wilderness adventure camp. This is a real back-to-nature experience of living, eating and sleeping in the great outdoors. No home comforts, no classroom learning, just the expanse of the forest and the animals that inhabit the wood. The site is nestled under a canopy of trees and the tents are arranged around a yurt, which house the fire: the hub of a community. The children learn how to make a campfire, camouflage, shelters, survival skills and team-building games to help everyone get to know their new classmates. The lack of showers fazes no one, it just gives some children an excuse to live in the same clothes they arrive in!
Junior School Open Day
The next Alleyn's Junior School Open Event is from 1.30pm to 3pm on Wednesday 22 May 2024. There will be a Head's Talk at 1.40pm after which you will be offered a tour of the school with a pupil. There is no need to book a place at this Open Event - everyone is welcome.
