Charles and Ed make the U16 England national assessment squad.

Congratulations to the two Year 11 boys whose outstanding performances in the Mercia Lynx U15 Futures Cup have secured their spots in the England U16 National Age Group Assessment Squad.

Selection to this group is a great achievement for junior hockey players and is the first step to being picked for the England U16 squad itself. The boys’ success is a real testament to their determination and commitment to training, and to the input and direction of their respective clubs (Wimbledon HC for Charles and Spencer HC for Ed). We are very proud of them both and wish them all the best with their upcoming training and assessment camps.

Charles’ and Ed’s performances also highlight the strength and quality of the Alleyn’s hockey programme, ably led in recent years by Ian Shead, and supported by a host of sport specialists that includes former Great Britain Hockey Captain, Sue Chandler.

Alleyn’s offers extensive curricular and co-curricular opportunities for pupils and the wider community – including an outreach programme that last year provided a full inset day of hockey training and professional development for teachers working in schools from the local community.
