Congratulations to Chris Peilow (Brown's 2008) who was Executive Producer on the Noah Media Group’s documentary, One-Armed Wonder: The Extraordinary Story of Jimmy Hasty which won the Sports Emmy for Outstanding Short Documentary at the 45th Annual Sports Emmy Awards on 21 May.

The Sports Emmy Awards honor outstanding achievement in sports programming. The Noah Media Group’s award-winning short documentary tells the unbelievable story of one of football’s most remarkable and overlooked players, Northern Irish footballer, Jimmy Hasty.

After losing his left arm on his first day of work at the age of 14, Jimmy went on to become a first-team star for Dundalk FC as they won their first Irish league title in 30 years in 1962/63. The following season, the team turned heads on their European Cup debut, becoming the first Irish side to win an away game in Europe, with Hasty playing a key role.

Tragically, a decade later, Hasty was murdered during The Troubles in Belfast. He was shot at point blank range by a paramilitary group at just 38 years old.

Accepting the award, Director Richard Milway paid tribute to Jimmy's family. He said:

“I’d like to thank the Hasty family – Jimmy’s sons, Paul and Martin, and his wife Margaret. It’s 50 years since Jimmy was killed, and this was the first time that Margaret had spoken about Jimmy’s death. She did so with amazing grace and courage, and I’d like to dedicate this award to her.”

Prior to the awards, Executive Producer of the documentary, Chris, said of the nomination:

"Absolutely brimming with pride that we've been nominated for the Outstanding Short Documentary award at this year's Sports Emmys. Big shout-out to all at The Noah Media Group, Dundalk FC and UEFA for this truly extraordinary film."

Congratulations, Chris and to all involved in this powerful documentary.
