Congratulations to Theo Dan (Spurgeon's 2019) who has been an impressive force playing for England in the 2023 Rugby World Cup!

Theo has featured in all three of England’s World Cup games and scored two tries in the teams 71-0 win over Chile on 23 September.

All of Alleyn’s have been cheering Theo on. PE Teacher, Mr Rob Ody has even made it to all three of England’s Games and Sam in Year 11 even managed to grab a photo with him after the game on Saturday.

Gavin English, Deputy Head, (Pastoral) who was Director of Sport when Theo was at Alleyn’s tells us more about Theo’s journey:

“Theo was a great all-rounder and an excellent footballer at Alleyn’s - playing 1st XI football under Kevin Molloy who worked with Theo way back at the start of his Alleyn's career in the Junior School.

He was an extraordinarily conscientious pupil and performer, consistently going beyond living up to the School's values.

He was a cultural architect within the teams he represented, setting the standard for his peers and his no-nonsense approach in a sporting context made him an excellent role model."

Theo also attended Alleyn’s Junior School and returned to speak to Junior School pupils in 2021.

Theo plays professionally at Saracens Rugby Club and has had a monumental year, winning the Premiership title, making his England Debut against Wales and now scoring tries for his country at the World Cup.

England will play Samoa on Saturday 7 October in their final group game before playing in the semifinals.

Congratulations from all of us at Alleyn’s and best of luck with the rest of the World Cup! We’ll be cheering you on!
