Audiences were treated to a wonderful tale of exile, disguises, love, redemption and friendship as Shakespeare's glorious romantic comedy was reimagined in this Upper School production, transposing the action from a 16th century court to a heartless corporation in the City of London during the 1990s.
The comedy, which reflects on the roles forced upon us and breaking loose from the expectations of society, also saw the MCT transformed with the production performed in traverse.
Director of Drama, and of this exceptional production, Mr Piper, said:
“As ever, it has been an enormous privilege and absolute joy to explore Shakespeare’s wonderful words and craft in this production, with an extraordinary team of actors, musicians, designers and technicians, who never fail to astound me with their generosity, creativity and joy.”
Over 60 Upper School students brought the production to the stage, including the essential backstage roles from lighting, sound, and costume to puppetry design.
Aleanbh in Year 12, who was on the lighting team, said:
“The main thing that I got out of being part of the play was the overwhelming sense of community. That the whole cast and crew were part of something so powerful and such a shared experience is simply amazing, it truly creates unforgettable memories.”
