The students whose projects were shortlisted are Ella, Diana, Iris, Jemima, Rhea and Romy, who wrote projects on subjects as diverse as censorship, Oman’s foreign policy and the doppelgänger in literature.
The six finalists went along to Ms Lunnon’s office last Friday where they were congratulation by the Head for their success so far and were then invited to sign the Head’s Book for Outstanding Achievement.
The Governors’ Research Project Prize, run for students going into Year 13, is an opportunity for students to enrich their learning by undertaking a research project of their choice that they have not formally covered in class. It is a great way of demonstrating to prospective universities their ability to work independently.
The finalists will be sitting their vivas after school this Thursday. They will be questioned closely on their projects by both Governors and the Head, who will then decide on a winner and two runners-up, who will each receive a cash prize.
The announcement for the winners will be announced in assembly next Wednesday. We wish them all very good luck!
