It is early in the year, but Alleyn's GCSE Art pupils have been showing exceptional creativity as they focus on the theme 'Collections' this term.

One pupil, Nina, is embarking on a bold and colourful Hockney-inspired painting featuring Heinz Baked Beans and a tin of SPAM. She said: "I instantly pictured tins on a supermarket shelf when I thought of collections. So, I strolled the aisles of my local supermarket and picked up some of the most recognisable products I could see."

We look forward to seeing how our GSCE artists pieces progress and where the theme takes them.

The Alleyn's Art Department is a lively and exciting place. Teaching students to think and act critically and creatively is central to our aims, as is fostering a sense of excitement and possibility, and facilitating works which students create with a sense of pride and achievement.

Each year, The Summer Show is a highlight of the Alleyn's calendar, showcasing the final works and talents of our GCSE and A level students. See the impressive range of works, from highly skilled oil paintings, to exciting sculptural work, photography and film, in the 2020 Summer Show here and find out more about what the Alleyn's Art Department has to offer here
