Campaign Ambassador,
400th Anniversary Campaign: Growing Bursaries for the Future

'I support the bursaries campaign because I want other young children from less advantaged backgrounds to be given the opportunity to discover their own potential in the nurturing and supportive environment that Alleyn’s offers.

I grew up in a council flat in Herne Hill and as a child, whenever I’d walk to my primary school, I would be envious of the older children wearing blazers heading to Alleyn’s. I remember telling my mum I wanted to go Alleyn’s, not knowing at the time that it was an independent school, and that my single mother could not even dream of affording to send me there. However, without missing a beat, my mother responded that if I wanted to go there I would just have to work hard and take the entrance exam. And that is exactly what I did.'
