Stubbers Adventure Centre was the destination for the Year 6 children on a very cold but sunny Friday morning. A day out with their friends, in the fresh air, attempting various challenges was the perfect way to acknowledge their hard work in the run up to the 11+ assessments.

It was an early start but at the end of the journey we were rewarded with stunning sunny views across the climbing tower and the high ropes course – which were the first obstacles for the children to tackle. A quick safety talk and the children headed 30 feet into the air.

The high wires course was a test of the children’s head for heights as they tottered along wobbly logs or across moving platforms. The climbing tower was a challenge of mind over matter and cold fingers proved no barrier to an energetic, and near vertical, climb.

In the afternoon, it was all about accuracy as Year 6 went into laser combat, darting through the trees trying to take the opposition by surprise and win the game. Rifle shooting finished off the day.

Not only was the outing a great deal of fun, it was so good to see the children working together, encouraging each other to take a risk and step out of their comfort zone. As teachers it was lovely to spend time with the children out of the classroom, we got to see a different side to them all.

Well done Year 6, a well-deserved day out!
