Alleyn's alumni are warmly encouraged to join our thriving clubs and societies.
Clubs are mostly based at the Edward Alleyn Clubhouse on Burbage Road in Dulwich, with some also using the School facilities on Townley Road from time to time. Others, such as the Golf Society and the Hockey Club are located nearby in the local area. The walking group The Randonneurs, ventures further afield for specific activities.

Alleyn Old Boys FC is a thriving club with four Saturday teams and a veterans' team who play on Sundays.
Founded in 1888 and based at The Edward Alleyn Club on Burbage Road, we have maintained a strong connection with Alleyn's throughout that time with most teams primarily made up of alumni from the School.
We cater for a wide range of abilities, with the 1st XI training each week at the School and playing in the top tier of the Southern Amateur League, and the 4th XI playing some 11 divisions below them!
The club places a strong emphasis on the social side of the game, with post-match hospitality after every game and regular socials throughout the season. Over the years, the football club has been a fantastic way for people to stay in touch with school friends as well as making new ones along the way.

The Randonneurs are an alumni group, led by John Gibbons (Tyson's 1970), that organises challenge walks and treks across Britain.
Upcoming walks and booking information are listed on the Always Alleyn's Events page.
John recalls the origins of The Randonneurs:
A couple of years ago, I set off with a group of friends (all alumni) to walk the Lych Way, known as The Way of the Dead, across Dartmoor. Over a pint or two at the end of the walk, the idea was born to open up our future annual challenge walks to the wider alumni community.
In 2022, six new faces, seven if you include Fred the dog, joined us on the Abbotts Way walk for a fantastic day, and evening for that matter. As such things have a habit of doing, the idea moved on apace and 2023 saw four walks take place; a challenge walk across Dartmoor and three one-day walks in the South East including the North Downs in December.
Spurred on by the encouragement we have received from the Alleyn’s Development and Alumni Relations Office and the Edward Alleyn Club, we are looking to develop this activity further. We need people to take part, but also individuals who will come forward to organise walks in other areas of Britain. Whilst the walks that took place in 2023 were, for the most part, reasonably long and sometimes over difficult terrain, we hope to add shorter walks for those seeking a more modest challenge.
Walking/trekking is a great activity, enjoyed by millions of people of all ages. Apart from the health and general well-being benefits that come from getting out into the countryside or wilderness, there are also the social bonds that come from sharing the experience with like-minded people, particularly when those same people have a strong common heritage.
Walking can take you to some magical locations and leave you with lasting memories of wonderful scenery and good company. What could be better?
Come and join us. Better still, volunteer to organise a walk. Whichever you choose, we look forward to welcoming you to our community and hope you get as much enjoyment from the walks as we do.
