The Alleyn’s Medics Society were delighted to welcome back Albert Wayman Scarlett (Cribb’s 2015) on 21 November for an enlightening talk. Albert studied at Nottingham Trent University and is now a paramedic in West London. He provided an invaluable perspective into the world of urgent and emergency care services.

Albert delved into the intricacies of his daily life as a paramedic, offering a firsthand account of the challenges and rewards of the profession. He emphasized the importance of being not just a skilled practitioner but also a compassionate and personable caregiver, stressing the significance of empathy and effective communication.

Albert highlighted the importance of continuous growth and professional development in the medical field. He encouraged aspiring medics to embrace a mindset of adaptability, recognizing the ever-evolving nature of healthcare.

The talk concluded with a Q&A session, during which students had the opportunity to seek advice on academic pursuits, gaining insights into the application process for paramedic roles, and understanding the various paths within the medical profession.

A big thank you to Albert for being an inspiration for current students as they consider embarking on their own journeys in the world of medicine.
