Celebration Day saw Madeleine Campbell (Dutton's 1986) and Ted Rosner (Spurgeon's 2006) announced as the winners of the first Alleyn's Achievement Awards.

Madeleine and Ted were the chosen award recipients in the Alumni Achievement and Young Alumni Achievement categories respectively, after an enthusiastic vote by current pupils and staff of the School.

Madeleine was nominated in the Alumni Achievement category for exceptional achievement in veterinary medicine and ethics. She is a veterinary surgeon and an expert in animal welfare, ethics and law, and was Alleyn's second female School Captain, in 1985/86. She became an Alleyn's Governor in 2014. Madeleine is Professor of Veterinary Ethics at Nottingham University, Chair of the British Veterinary Association's Ethics and Welfare Advisory Panel, and Chair of The Equine Welfare and Ethics Advisory Group.

Ted was nominated for significant achievement in social enterprise. He is co-founder of Redemption Roasters which aims to change lives and "reduce (re)offending through coffee" by providing training schemes, jobs and education. The firm has 10 London coffee shops and a roastery behind bars. It provides barista and technician training within 2 UK prisons and in the community and employs prison leavers or individuals at risk of reoffending. Redemption Roasters currently provides Alleyn's with its coffee supplies.

On accepting his award, Ted said:

"I'm deeply grateful to Alleyn's for recognising my work with Redemption Roasters. I never expected anything like this, as I don't typically see myself as the type to win awards! I look forward to maintaining my close relationship with the School and contributing in any way I can to a place that has given me so many happy memories over the years."

Laura Malkin, Chair of Alleyn's Governors, announced the results of the awards as part of the School's annual Celebration Day for pupils and parents, saying:

"We are incredibly proud of our winners and nominees in this inaugural year. Madeleine and Ted merit particular congratulation, and I know that they will both serve as an inspiration to our current pupils."

Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Frank Keenan, said:

"I am delighted that Madeleine and Ted have been recognised in this way. Both are wonderful ambassadors for the Alleyn's community. The awards are a fantastic way to shine a light on the many ways in which our alumni positively contribute to society, and we are excited to celebrate many more alumni in the years ahead."

The Alumni Achievement Awards were the brainchild of Mr Keenan and Mrs Malkin, who established them to recognise and signpost alumni impact and accomplishments more widely, and to celebrate the School's long-held spirit of possibility.

Nominations took place in early 2024 with entries from across the Alleyn's community (current and former pupils and staff) that embraced a diverse range of alumni contributions and professions including lawyers, producers, authors, campaigners and composers.

Rigorous shortlisting was undertaken by a panel that included Head Jane Lunnon, Edward Alleyn Club Chair Paul Barber, and 2023/24 Development and Alumni Relations Prefect Tiffany (Tyson's 2024).
