Dark, intense and at times refreshingly tongue-in-cheek – the Middle School Play has entertained two audiences in the MCT this week. In a completely enjoyable showcase of Alleyn's Drama, pupils successfully delivered their version of Agatha Christie's classic thriller, "And Then There Were None".

Drawing from Christie's iconic novel, the play unfolded on Soldier Island, a remote outpost off the Devon coast, where ten strangers gather after receiving mysterious invitations. As tension mounts, they discover they are accused of grave crimes, and the realisation sets in that a murderer lurks among them, determined to dispense justice. The gripping narrative, punctuated by compelling and eerie dance and soundtrack, kept the audience's attention hooked as the mystery unravelled.

Students hit their lines with confidence, worked the stage with both power and grace, and embodied every aspect of the roles and characters they had assumed for the night, and it was a delight to watch.

The success of the production owes much to the efforts of the cast and creative team, who dedicated countless hours to perfecting their roles and staging. Rehearsals stretched from lunchtimes to after-school sessions, and even weekends of meticulous preparation invested in bringing Christie's tale to life.

The play is applauded not only for the performances but also for the tireless efforts of Play Director, Ms. Arter-Furlong, whose creative vision, reimagining and adaptation brought the novel to life. Ms. Layton was responsible for the choreography that was integral to the piece, which merged naturalistic and physical theatre styles. Their combined expertise contributed to the immersive experience for the audience.

Well done to our incredibly talented and hard-working pupils involved in this wonderful production and an enormous thanks to everyone who helped the Middle School Play to be such a resounding success!
