In alignment with the Independent Schools Council (ISC) Partnerships Week, Alleyn's has been busy showcasing our comprehensive partnerships efforts in a week of education and inspiration. Partnerships week is a chance to shine a spotlight on the magic that happens when state and independent schools come together to elevate the community.

Alleyn’s Head of Partnerships, Ben Jones, alongside Principal of The Charter School, Bermondsey and Co-Director of the SSLP*, Marcus Huntley, attended a celebration at the prestigious House of Lords as part of the ISC’s commemoration of the launch of their Celebrating Partnerships Booklet. The event was an opportunity for state and independent schools to showcase their inspiring projects, which enrich young people’s lives and uplift their local communities.

‘It’s so fantastic to meet so many representatives of partnership work. These inspiring collaborations are mutually beneficial, and each school has something unique to contribute. Long may they continue!’ - Ben Jones and Marcus Huntley.

Jones' presence at Monday evening’s event will be further complimented by his attendance at the ISC conference tonight, where he will be speaking about Alleyn’s comprehensive partnership programme; Alleyn’s Together.

Through Alleyn's Together, we open our doors and our hearts to share our facilities and expertise, and actively engage in collaborative mentoring, outreach, volunteering and charitable activities in partnerships that are sustainable and mutually beneficial. Alleyn’s Together is designed to be beneficial for all involved, for our partner pupils as well as our own.

Earlier this week, we completed a week-long impact assessment, involving over 200 pupils, with the aim of quantifying the reach and benefits of our efforts. The results of this assessment will guide future partnership decisions and programme development.

The remainder of Partnerships Week stands to be enriching. We have project planning scheduled in with our SSLP schools*, who have also been invited to a ‘Beyond the Text’ talk by Jane Lunnon, and on Thursday, our pupil volunteers will be engaging with Albrighton foodbank, sorting and distributing food supplies. Over the weekend we will welcome partner pupils in for our Saturday Math's scheme, which extends pupils skills in literacy, mathematics or science in a stimulating and fun environment.

We are looking forward to continuing to build and nurture meaningful relationships beyond our school walls.

*SSLP stands for Southwark Schools Learning Partnership, which promotes educational opportunities for pupils and staff through a consortium of maintained and independent schools.
