As a member of the Alleyn's alumni community we use your House and year group (or 'Class Of') to identify you.
When we refer to you as a member of the Alleyn’s alumni community we add a suffix after your name to indicate your House and what we describe as your 'Class Of'.
The 'Class Of' is shown in the suffix, after the name of the House, to indicate the year in which you left the School in Year 13 after undertaking A levels. So, if you are an alumnus in Roper’s who sat A levels in 2018 you would have the suffix (Roper’s 2018) after your name.
If you left Alleyn's earlier than Year 13, say, as a Year 11 in 2016, your 'Class Of' would still be the year in which your wider cohort left the School in Year 13. So, if you are an an alumna in Tyson's who left in 2016, but whose cohort went on to sit A levels in 2018, you would be styled (Tyson's 2018).
This approach enables the School and other alumni to easily identify a person's year group and their possible connections. It also allows the Development and Alumni Relations Office to be in touch about targeted events such as the Decades Reunion, which focuses on specific classes each year.
We try to make sure that your 'Class Of' is accurately referenced. However, there can be occasionally be discrepancies where our historical records are incomplete, or, as was common in some decades, where students left early for apprenticeships or stayed longer for Oxbridge preparation.
