Having just entered the year in which they are sitting their GCSE exams, this chapter in their academic and life journey is one where effort made now can be integral in setting themselves up for future successes (however success is defined by each individual).

As such, the Alleyn’s Careers team was delighted to connect with the cohort of Year 11s in two live sessions during PSHE recently. On Tuesday 16 September, the Y11 careers programme launch highlighted elements including post-16 options support; My Future Choice psychometric testing and related careers guidance interviews; careers talks and more. Furthermore, the emphasis on the importance of work experience was communicated... and built on in the second live session on Tuesday 23 September – the Y11 work experience launch.

Although the work experience period which falls after GCSEs seems like a long time from now, the process of securing work experience starts now, and the students are now aware of the challenge and opportunity in the coming months.

For Year 11s, self-awareness, careers curiosity and exploration are essential, and they have begun this year with that understanding.

If any parents or wider members of the Alleyn’s community know that their organisations can provide work experience (or even if curious about what it would entail) please do contact us on [email protected] and we would be thrilled to explore this with you.
