AOGs' Annual Hockey and Netball Matches

Postponed due to the snow, Old Girl’s matches went ahead on Sunday 22 April, despite clashes with the Marathon, people being on holiday, injured or being whisked abroad at short notice with work! A fine time was had by one and all and the weather was glorious, for watching, although a bit hot for playing!

The next one is already being talked about – and will be on a Sunday next March (2019). Anyone interested in getting involved, please let Sue Lane know Slane3161@gmail.com

John Pretlove

We are sad to announce the death of John Pretlove, former pupil, Governor and great friend of the Alleyn's community. John passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday. Below is a short tribute sent to us from his family.

John Pretlove died peacefully on Sunday 1st April aged 85. As some of the Alleyn Old Boys will have known John had suffered from Alzheimer's for over 10 years.

John's funeral will take place on Monday 23rd April at 11am at St Nicholas Church, Church Lane, Chislehurst BR7 5PE and afterwards at Chislehurst Golf Club, Camden Park Road, Chislehurst BR7 5HJ.

John's years at Alleyn's were remarkable for his sporting achievements in cricket, football and fives. He always talked warmly of his time at the school and of those that had encouraged his talents and of the friends he had made there. In his retirement years he served the school with great distinction as a Governor between 1998 to 2009 and was the President of the Alleyn Old Boys in 1996-97. He was instrumental in keeping Fives as a great Alleyn's tradition.

John's wife Ann, daughter Sally and son David do hope that many Old Boys and those who knew John through the school will be able to celebrate his life at the service and join them afterwards to share memories of this most loyal of Old Boys. The school had meant so much to him. Read a full obituary in The Independent here
