Mr Iain Barbour

Position: Chairman and ex-officio member of all committees. Trustee of the Dulwich Estate, Governor Representative for AGBIS and Chair of Alleyn's School Enterprises Limited.

Date of appointment: 1st August 2009

Biography: Iain was educated at St Edward's School, Oxford and Hull University; he lives in London, where he works at Bishopsfield Capital Partners, where he advises institutional investors financing the development and management of infrastructure and other projects. Iain's career has spanned three decades in the City, during which time he has worked for some of the world's leading financial institutions. Iain is an Independent Non-Executive Director at DBRS Ratings Ltd, a Trustee of The Dulwich Estate, and a member of the Development Board of the Almeida Theatre. Iain maintains a keen interest in drama and sport. Iain has three daughters who were educated at Alleyn's between 2001 and 2012.

Dr E Frances Bowen

Position: Deputy Chairman, Chair of the Education Committee and member of the Strategy & Governance Committee. Governor with particular responsibility for the Junior School and for Safeguarding. 

Date of appointment: 13th March 2008.

Biography: Educated at Alleyn's 1977-1984, Spurgeons House Captain & School Vice-Captain 1983-84 then studied medicine at the Royal Free Hospital, London. After junior medical rotations Frances was appointed MRC Fellow back at the Royal Free where her work led to a PhD in molecular virology in AIDS patients. Frances completed her training as a physician thereafter and was appointed to Consultant Physician at the Hammersmith Hospital at the age of 32 in 1999. There Frances set up a very successful rapid assessment and treatment service for patients with lung cancer. Appointed to Head of Department of Respiratory Medicine Hammersmith and Charing Cross Hospital. Frances is now Chief of Service for Specialist Medicine at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.

Dr Madeleine Campbell

Position: Member of the Education Committee.

Biography: Qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon (BVetMed) with Honours in 1996 (The Royal Veterinary College). PhD in Equine Reproduction, 2003 (London University). BA Oxford University (2:1) in Modern History and Economics, 1989. Recognised as a Veterinary Specialist in Equine Reproduction by the European College of Animal Reproduction (2003) and The Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (2006).MA in Medical Ethics and Law from Keele University, 2012, Distinction for both course work and thesis.

Mr Kevin Douglas

Position: Member of the Education Committee. Governor with particular responsibility for the Junior School.

Date of appointment: 13th March 2015.

Biography: former Headmaster of University College School, Junior Branch (2001 – 2014). Educated at Lady Manners School, Bakewell. Trained as a teacher in Biology and Physical Education at Loughborough University. Played rugby for England Universities and England U23 whilst at Loughborough. Moved to London, taught at QE Barnet whilst playing for Harlequins and then Saracens. Twice in the winning side at the Middlesex 7’s tournament. 

Deputy Head at Belmont, Mill Hill for ten years before taking up the UCS post. Mr Douglas was an ISI inspector for ten years and is currently the Chairman of iTrust, the IAPS Educational Charity. He is also an IAPS Mentor. He is married to Margaret, has three married daughters and, at the moment, three grandchildren.

Mr Jon Lilly

Position: Member of the Education Committee. Member of the WJ Smith Awards Committee.

Date of appointment: 1st August 2014

Biography: Jon was educated at Wyggeston Boys’ Grammar School, Leicester and Southampton University, where he read History. He undertook his PGCE at the Institute of Education, London University and was appointed to teach History at Alleyn’s in 1974. He introduced the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme, tutored at all levels in the school and coached football, basketball and badminton. He was the School Timetabler for many years, before being appointed Assistant Head [Director of Studies] and finally Deputy Head [Pastoral and Personnel]. He retired in 2013. His son and daughter were both educated at Alleyn’s. Jon has a particular brief to represent the Alleyn’s staff.

Mrs Laura Malkin

Date of appointment: 1st August 2015

Biography: Laura holds several positions in the education sector, with institutions from primary through post graduate levels, in the UK and the US. 

She is the Executive Chairman of the Thomas’s Schools Foundation which works with some of the most challenged primary schools in central London. Laura works as a strategic advisor to a group of London independent prep schools, serves as a governor of Ashburnham Community Primary School, a trustee of Wellesley College (US), and on several advisory boards at Harvard University. Laura sat on the Alleyn’s Parents’ Association from 2000 - 2010, during which time she and her husband had four daughters in the school. She served as APA Chair from 2005 - 07.

Mr Philip Perry

Position: Member of the Finance & General Purposes Committee and the Strategy & Governance Committee. Director of Alleyn's School Enterprises Limited.

Date of appointment: 1st August 2009.

Biography: Philip was educated at Alleyn's from 1958-1966. He was a School Prefect and House Captain of Roper's. He studied for a Business Degree and subsequently qualified as a solicitor. Philip has practised as a lawyer in the City of London since 1975 and has been, and continues to be, a leading member of one of the largest international global law firms.

Mr Richard Pinckard

Position: Chair of the Finance & General Purposes Committee and Strategy & Governance Committee. Trustee of the Dulwich Estate.

Date of appointment: 1st August 2013.

Biography: Richard was educated at Malvern College and the London School of Economics. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG where he has been a partner since 1996 working with many of its major international clients across a wide range of industries. Richard is also a Trustee of the British Lung Foundation and a member of the Financial Reporting Review Panel, the UK’s financial reporting regulator. His son and daughter have both attended Alleyn’s and he lives in Dulwich.

Mr Iain Pulley

Position: Member of the Finance & General Purposes Committee. Director of Alleyn's School Enterprises Limited.

Biography: Iain is the Worshipful Company of Saddlers' representative on the Governing Board, following both his father and brother in this role. Iain was Master of the Saddlers' Company 2007-8. A keen athlete in his youth, Iain's original career was in marketing posts at Reader's Digest and Financial Times, after which he co-owned an international legal, business and technical publishing company, later sold to Wolters Kluwer. This included a US subsidiary he had started. Since then, he has built-up a specialist database software business and bureau, mainly for the publishing and travel industries. He also runs periodic marketing courses for such organisations as the Periodical Publishers' Association.

Ms Tania M Tribius

Position: Member of the Education Committee, Member of the WJ Smith Awards

Biography: Alleyn’s School’s first Music Scholar, Tania studied at the Guildhall, before reading Law at King’s College, London.  A prize winner at school and university, and School Prefect, Tania qualified as a lawyer in the City, practising as a London Partner for many years. 

Tania is a business owner and Director, having founded Tower Legal in 2003. This professional legal training business has worked with over 2,000 law firms in England and Wales, and internationally, over the past 13 years.  Tower Legal protects lawyers in key areas of Risk Management (including Money Laundering, Cybercrime, Bribery & Corruption, and Legal Practice Management).

Tania is a passionate professional educator of all age groups, also being a trained Suzuki violin teacher (in her spare time).

Mr Peter Yetzes

Position: Member of the Finance & General Purposes Committee. Governor Representative on the Health and Safety Committee.

Date of appointment: 17th March 2014.

Biography: Peter was educated at Alleyn's from 1960-1968 and was House Captain of Tulley’s. His career was primarily in public sector finance and until 2010 he was a Director of the Audit Commission where he developed the  internationally renowned National Fraud Initiative. Peter is currently Executive Chairman of a group of recruitment companies operating in the IT, Nursing and Oil and Gas sectors.. His son and daughter attended Alleyn’s between 1984 and 1993.

Mrs Diana Rawstron

Position: Clerk to the Governors.

Biography: Diana Rawstron is a solicitor in private practice and her area of expertise includes trusts and charities. She was a partner and is now a consultant with Goodman Derrick LLP.
